Who we are Internet Broadband subscribers went from 100 millions at the end of 2004 to 250 millions at the end of 2005, and the most forecasts are saying that by 2010 the broadband equipped household will surpass the TV equipped ones. Considering this, we believe VOD (Video on Demand) is already the widest and easiest way to show and promote films on B2B level worldwide and might be in the future the best access to large audiences and niche audiences for independent productions/distribution. Documen.tv is a free association of film producers and filmmakers dedicated to promote worldwide independent documentary films by VOD through simple fast Internet connections. This alliance of professionals gives access to the best of this last technology for very minimized fee. How it works The filmmakers/producers/distributors associated remain in full control of their film rights and free to join or leave the association at will. Documen.tv is totally independent, and not making money from commercial ads nor corporate sponsoring, which means that the revenue of each film comes directly, and exclusively, from the viewers. Therefore the right-holder share is precisely accounted for and paid regularly. Since this type of “digital” content distribution can be assimilated to “hard copy” distribution (such as DVD or Video CD’s distribution), the right-holders remain completely in control of their rights and Documen.tv is not asking for any kind of exclusivity or share on the rights of the films. How efficient it is Grouping and sharing the costs are allowing Documen.tv to use the best connections and dedicated servers available today. We can “broadcast” films to up to 3.000 concomitant viewers around the planet regardless of their geographical location, with the same efficiency, full length, full screen, no or very short downloading/buffering time, high quality definition. Launched in July 2005 Documen.tv is already very well referenced on Internet, in fact we are ranking at the very top of the best search engines (more than 90% of all Internet searches.) Just try it. If you type on Google " documentary..." plus any word related to any film of our catalogue, such a name of country ( Japan, France, Iraq, USSR, Spain, Pakistan, Mongolia, Argentina, Colombia or Vietnam...) and a film director name or simply a word such "war” or "justice", "guerrilla", "prison", "music", "salsa", "mambo", “art” or any keyword related to one of our film Documen.tv ranks in the very first positions. Of course typing the film’s title will also do. Documen.tv is searchable in English, French and Spanish and soon in Chinese and Japanese, with already potentially 80 millions English speaking viewers, 15 millions French speaking viewers, 10 millions Spanish speaking viewers adding soon 40 millions Chinese speaking viewers and 26.4 millions Japanese viewers, all connected by Internet fast connections and ready for Video on Demand (Those figures, according to conservative forecast, are expected to double by the end of 2006.) What it usually costsThe average encoding of a 60 minutes film would cost typically on commercial offers around $100 USD, and if you intend to put online only one or two 60 minutes films, a very current server to deliver your videos would cost between $25 and $50 USD per month, not guaranteeing the quality of the delivery in case of multi concomitant viewers, for that you would need an host using at least a T1 line, which would cost currently around $800 USD per month, (though even then your number of concomitant viewers will probably be limited to several thousands). So, not including the design, maintenance of the site or the implementation of a safe pay-per-view system, this would easily cost you several thousand dollars a year. What it cost through Documen.tv associationFor each film
For an entry price of only $52 USD per film per YEAR. This would be the only investment of associating film’s right-holder and it is refunded as soon as your film has 1 paying viewer a week thorough the year, since Documen.tv is paying one USD back to the film Right-Holder every time the film is sold online through its system. Note: For an extra-cost we can allocate a specific design and presentation of your company film catalogue. How you can helpGive it a try and join us. Only experience will build up mutual trust. Gathering more filmmaker, producers and distributors will definitively contribute to keep prices low, preserve independence, contribute to give Documen.tv associates professional credibility and nourish a larger and wiser audience. Please tell us about your expectation and needs. Your ideas and suggestion will always be great benefits for all of us.
